This avalanche chute is in Blodgett Canyon located in Western Montana's Bitterroot Valley. The dangerous canyon wall is the norm for all of the canyons in Montana's piece of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. At this location a cow moose wintered near Blodgett Creek, which happened to be less than two miles above where a wolf pack was making itself known, with a kill zone that extended from near private land in the populated Bitterroot Valley to approximately six miles in the canyon above Blodgett Campground. I saw the remnants of at least two goats and one elk in the canyon.
