On Day-Twelve in a crossing of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness the storms were unrelenting. This photo was taken at Elk Summit meadows on the road. With intermittent subzero temperatures the storm was dumping more snow on an already above average snowpack. I continued the daily action of building a trail before hefting the ninety pound pack to struggle north. Though I was on a road that is popular for snowmobilers, the extreme conditions prevented them from coming in and helping me out by breaking trail.
