On the edge of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness of Idaho and Montana, an above average snowpack buried Horse Creek near Elk Summit under ten plus feet of snowpack. On Day-Nine I shot this photo during the evening of the hardest day of the wilderness crossing thus far. I traveled on snowshoes for ten and one half hours and made five miles, while climbing out of Big Sand Creek Canyon. Being greeted with this much powder was not a party event. Note my posthole tracks on the right side of the photo, where I had already built a trail to Elk Summit Guard Station.
